He cared about people, and was a leader in welfare and human services in local government and in his local community. Up until a year before he died, he would regularly pedal his bicycle from Ardmona, the country district where he lived, to Shepparton, the local town, to visit patients in the local hospital and nursing home. He was 85 years of age and it is a 29 Kilometre round trip. He said "People get lonely in hospital." |
