William Rickett's Sanctuary
I find this special piece of forest so peaceful and beautiful. I look at the inscriptions. I look at the sculptures and I look up at the tall trees towering high above. Often I weep as I think about how I do not always take care of the land.
I think of the orchards in Ardmona, in the Goulburn Valley where I lived as a young child. How trees there are dying because of the irrigation and the lack of natural vegetation in the district. That is what I feel sad about.
Yet I can choose to buy fruit and vegetables grown by farmers who do take care of the land. I can make a difference.
And I look forward to visiting this beautiful sanctuary again.
I love this place. Please take care of it.
